Atrium, Wallace Primary
SchoolElderslie

The school has been trying to turn the school atrium into an exterior classroom. The school has succeeded in creating a planting area for our 7 primary classes. The walls of the atrium are however very boring according to a 7 year old child.

The school would therefore love to purchase exterior pastel coloured paint to turn the "boring" walls into an inspirational area.

Staindrop CE PRimary SchoolDarlington

The paint on the facias and outside of school is very weather worn and shabby. Other more important aspects of the school have to be dealt with before the painting like new windows and an extra classroom so the budget is limited for cosmetic enhancements.

The group would get a band of volunteer parents and take some weekends to paint the outside of the school.

CR3 Youth ProjectSurrey

This is the community project (www.skaterham.com) that serves the local kids on a not for profit basis. The ramps and surroundings have no colour and vitality!

The group will involve the kids and have a full day of painting, planting, cleaning and repairing. They will also buy boards so the kids can have their own "section" with their own work.

Whistley Scout HQOxford

The building is used by around 75 young people aged between 6 and 15 on a weekly basis, and could really use a refresh to lighten the building and make it a brighter space for the enthusiastic members.

The group would like to add additional lighting to the building, and create some storage space. This would be done by the group and then give the interior a lick of paint and seal the floor. This would really transform the space.

Fort VictoriaIsle of Wight

Fort Victoria is a fort built in 1855. It is historically important and now houses a number of centres for learning including the Underwater Archaeology Centre and the Island Planetarium. These centres aim to be a hub for the community and encourage community relations.

To brighten up Fort Victoria the group would make sure it gleams as much on the outside as it does within! The group would paint all exterior window and door frames, paint all of the original 1855 drain pipes and install hanging baskets to provide a splash of colour.

Haven Refuge HostelWolverhampton

The Haven has five hostels in the City of Wolverhampton accommodating women and children affected by domestic violence and homelessness. The outside play area of one of these hostels - Haven Refuge Hostel - is in desperate need of a make-over to improve the area.

With the help of B&Q the group wants to inject colour, life, fun and happiness into the play area. Purchasing some much needed paint and resources from B&Q the area will receive a makeover from staff, volunteers, mothers and children in a joint project. The group would want to refurbish/paint the climbing frame and play equipment and encourage the children to design a new mural on the garden wall to last for many years to come, a mural which symbolises happiness, hope and new beginnings.

St George's House,
Church StreetDoncaster

St George House is a Grade II listed building adjacent to Doncaster Minster and on the thoroughfare between Doncaster Town Centre and the Interchange (bus and railway station). At present it is used as office space for Minster staff other committees.

The group would like to paint it in heritage colours and make it look as good as befits a listed building. Many people pass it and use it every day.

Wednesbury Rugby club and
community centreWednesbury

The group has worked to improve the interior of the premises to provide a warm, safe and welcoming environment. The group would now like to improve the external appearance of the building and use the money to buy materials to refurbish fascia boards, windows and paint exterior surfaces. They would also want to remove any graffiti in order to make it look less run-down.

4YPIpswich

4YP is a young people's charity offering a range of health, social and general well-being services from our drop-in centre in Ipswich town centre. The services are used nearly 10,000 times last year and the charity operates from a great Grade II listed building.

The charity would like to paint the walls a warmer colour, fit a new carpet (or at least add some rugs), put new throws and cushions on the sofas, add some pictures/plants and use lamps instead of strip lights. Anything to make the room more attractive to young people!

Angus mental health
associationArbroath

The area at the back of the building is a space used by the service users and volunteers to sit and chat together. The quiet space helps them to enhance and lift their mood.

The group would help the service users to design the revamped space; buy some plants, herbs, (and use the resulting product in the kitchen in their cookery classes!), purchase some plant containers, purchase garden paint and sturdy furniture for the area, purchase a small freestanding shelter with seating, purchase some garden mural accessories and let people brighten up the garden with their own art work and designs. This would give a sense of ownership and pride for people who use the project area and give an attractive welcome for visitors and new members and generally brighten up the area and lift the spirits of some of the most vulnerable members of the community.
